Iranian hackers sent unsolicited information they stole from Donald Trump’s presidential campaign to people who were affiliated with Joe Biden’s campaign over the summer, federal law enforcement officials said Wednesday.

Iranian hackers shared unsolicited information they had stolen from former Trump's presidential campaign with people who were associated with Biden's campaign.

The United States said the hackers sent emails, which included stolen excerpts from Donald Trump's presidential campaign, to staff of his then-rival, Joe Biden. Both presidential candidates said such attempts took place.

US officials now believe that information taken from the Trump campaign was sent in unsolicited emails to people linked to the campaign in late June and early July - before Biden dropped out of the race for president.

Iranian "malicious cyber actors" emailed associates of President Biden's re-election campaign with information "taken from stolen, non-public material from former President Trump's campaign" over the summer,
